On February 1, 2021 we will be launching a new innovative program that was thoughtfully designed to address the prevailing food insecurity issue in Chicago, IL. Food insecurity; the issue of not having access to food or having limited access to food is a prevailing social issue that many face in this country and in other parts of the world. While there are many valuable programs in the city already addressing the issue of food insecurity, we believe the most sustainable and effective way to address the issue is to empower individuals to develop skills that teach them how to nourish the Mind, Body and Communities in which they live.
The main goal of the Seed to Believe Program is to provide youth and their families with valuable tools they can use and share with others to provide nourishment to families and communities for a lifetime. In order to meet the immediate need, the families enrolled in the program will receive groceries but more importantly they will gain access to an on-line platform where they will learn how to grow and prepare tasty, nutritious foods and be introduced to valuable life lessons hidden in the simple act of gardening. Not only will participants have the opportunity taste the food that they grow but they will also begin to see how the 7 Universal Laws of Gardening can be used to move their lives and communities from places of insecurity to security.
The interactive program is designed to be implemented in four components over a 6 month period with the most highly involved families reaping the benefits of food assistance for an entire year.
